The Power of Many

A Collaborative’s Journey toward
Social Justice and Creative Practice

The Power of Many: A Collaborative’s Journey toward Social Justice and Creative Practice celebrates the co-creative work of professionals dedicated to social transformation through the arts in their own words. This book was cowritten by staff drawn from a group of twenty-one organizations across New York City and North Carolina who all work toward social justice through a variety of arts-based practices. Brought together by a common funder, the William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust, these dedicated individuals have been meeting regularly since 2017 to learn and solve problems by engaging in a variety of collaborative projects where they share skills and resources to produce unique programmatic outcomes. In this publication, members of the Collaborative for Creative Practice and Social Justice share their process of engaging with one another, the challenges they’ve faced as a group, as well as questions and tools they have developed to guide their work together. They have made their publication free and digitally accessible, in the hopes that others will be able to benefit from their work and experience.
